He's HERE - Hayden's birth story!

It's official! We welcomed our 3rd child February 20, 2011 at 8:56pm! I am more then in love! It's truly amazing how much you can love your children. I always wondered if I could love another child as much as my first and then I had my 2nd and 3rd and realized that there is that same love!
Here is what happened - as I remember it:
Saturday (Feb 19th) I woke up with labor contractions. All day I was thinking I may be in labor, so my husband kept the kids occupied in our playroom, doing artwork, riding bicycles (our playroom is our finished basement and its winter in NY so we cleaned the bikes and brought them in;-p) The contractions were about 5 minutes apart, but I could stand them, so I just tried to rest. I ended up calling my midwife in the afternoon to let her know what was going on. She told me to do so, because my 2nd child's birth was 3 1/2 hrs start to finish. When I called she told me to call back if there were any changes so I rested the day and was awakened Sunday morning at 5:30 with painful contractions. By 10am I called my Mom to get my 2 1/2 and 5 yr old. At this point I am almost in tears, trying to be strong in front my my little ones. My son (5) asked, "Mom are you in labor?". I was embarrassed that I was in pain.
I called my Midwife at 10:30ish am and I told her my contractions went from 5 minutes to 2 minutes. She was already at the birthing center for another birth so she told me to come right in. We got to the BC and I could barely walk. I get situated, she checks me and I was at about 2 cm 75% effaced. (this was the same amount as my other 2 births - so ironic!) After getting the meds for being GBS + I walked around and rested, etc, and THEN MY CONTRACTIONS SLOWED DOWN.. I was SHOCKED! My midwives kept telling my that 3rd children were tricky, etc. I couldn't believe this. I was in TEARS. I was the only pregnant person in the birthing center, I heard babies crying. I lost it. Rewind to me having strong painful contractions since 18 weeks. My midwife offered to have me go home for awhile if that would make me more comfortable, but we were expected to have a snowstorm that night (and we did) plus I told her honestly I wouldn't know when to come back. Plus we live 20 minutes away. So we stayed.
So after losing it, I found my midwife and cried. I didn't care who saw me, I WAS OVER being pregnant, I wanted to see this little boy I have been carrying and I WANTED my other kids. I just wanted it to be over. With that being said, my midwife checked me and I was at 2.5cm and 90% effaced and asked if I wanted my water broken. I said YES - I know some people will disagree with this. That's fine, but both other child came within a few hours of my water breaking. So she broke my water and not one contraction for 10 minutes! THEN - they came every 2 minutes. Within an hour they were filling the birthing tub, and I was literally holding onto the walls because the pain was just too much. I felt like I wanted to crawl out of my skin.
I got into the tub and within minutes I told her that I felt the baby moving down and I started shaking, the nurse was alone and she called for my midwife (screaming down the hall). 2 other nurses ran in and my midwife came in. EVERY SINGLE PERSON I am sure heard me screaming, I was not that calm, collected and centered Mom that I wanted to be. I was out of control! From the time my water broke until the time Hayden was born was 2 1/2 hours. So my body went from almost 3 cm to 10 in about 2 hours and I pushed maybe for 20 minutes. Hayden was born with the cord around his neck and with his arm around his head! My midwife, told me this while I was screaming, HELP ME! My husband was holding my hand the whole time and this was the 1st birth it was just him and I and it was really nice to just have it be the 2 of us. I think if my Mom would have seen me like this she would have freaked!
So at 8:56pm Hayden Michael joined our family, and I said "I did it!" My body was in a state of shock, I couldn't move, I was just so happy to have him with us. We sat in the tub together and I was and still am in awe of him!

With Hayden's arrival, I get to experience new adventures, try new products and I hope you will take this journey with me. I am going to be blogging more, having giveaways, maybe even adding new products that I am trying:) I am happy, I'm a little worn out, but I feel so lucky and so blessed!

Less then a Month Until I am Due!!

Wow, this pregnancy has FLOWN by! I guess that is what happens when you already have 2 little ones at home with you:) We are so excited to meet our little boy! My daughter and son knock on my belly daily asking for their little brother to come out. It is more then adorable. With our new addition, I look forward to adding to our store as well! I LOVE that I get to try out products, see what works and I love, and then pass on this information to all of you!

I will be writing reviews of some of the products I have tried, even if they are not in the store in the future. I am the type of person that LOVES to spread the word on great products, great deals, MUST haves, what makes life easier, etc. Let's face it, we are all busy and I do value others' opinions. I am the type that reads reviews before I buy!

Some of the items I have bought/received are:

A Hot Mama Gown! I am MORE then excited to be delivering in this Organic GORGEOUS gown! The last 2 times I delivered, I did not feel beautiful, AT ALL. It IS a beautiful time, but I just didn't feel comfortable in the generic gown. Here is the site http://www.hotmamagowns.com/ I chose the Antoinette gown with the matching blanket. I opened the package and was completely in LOVE!! I of course ran into my bedroom to try it on. The size is perfect! And the blanket, it is so soft! I will write my review along with pictures when the times comes!!! Deidrea, owner of Hot Mama Gowns is a Mom of 2 (for now as her twitter bio says) and is not only an amazing business woman and inventor, she cares and offers so much knowledge about breastfeeding, natural childbirth and all things BABY!

I already have my KnappSack packed in my hospital bag! I have to admit, that and my Hot Mama Gown is ALL I have packed in it at the moment! Adorable, functional and Organic, I just love this infant swaddler! It is a great photo prop, so for all of you photographers, this is the item for you! She customizes colors, designers and just is a pleasure to work with! Jennifer is a Mom of 3 and a great person!

PumpEASE
Breastfeeding is VERY important to me. With my first I had a hard time, but continued to mostly pump for about 7 months. With my 2nd, I was more relaxed, informed and continued nursing her until 20 months. I did not have a good pump with her, and it was hard for me to be away from her for longer then 2 hours, while I worked, etc. So this time around I bought a pump and then I spotted a Pump Ease. First of all, can you say.. SO CUTE!!! I am QUEEN of multitasking, when I saw this product, I thought I MUST HAVE THIS! I can sew and PUMP, PERFECT!!!! The prints are adorable and also available in organic, I chose the Leopard print just because it is different. I can't wait to tell you my thoughts and how it works for me!

Dear Lara,

I wanted to tell you that our daughter Helen was born early Tuesday morning, and I am wearing her in the wrap right now for the first time. It is fabulous - she is conked out, absolutely content. I love carrying and holding her on my chest, and it's her favorite place to be - and this way I can walk around and use my arms too. Ruthy, our 5 year old, brought her baby doll to the hospital when she came to meet her sister, and I had thought to put the doll sling in my bag. So we gave her the doll sling then and she carried her doll home in it. Success!

We have now entered a very busy season! Spring and Summer are our busiest of seasons!

We are currently waiting on a HUGE Wrap fabric order to come in. Right now we ave plenty of Brown Wraps available, but Off White and Black are sold out! We were supposed to get that shipment in A MONTH AGO (But why be upset right? I called and called and there is nothing I can do from this end!) So off we wait and hope to hear from on Monday! We do expect to get this shipment in next week or the week after.

Jealously when a New Baby Arrives

Having a 2nd or 3rd or 4th, etc child can be dramatic for your child. When my son was 2 1/2 we had our daughter. The transition from one child to two was easy for me. My daughter would be wrapped closely to me, while I ran after my son. Grocery shopping, I wrapped the wrap before we went, much easier then struggling with an infant carrier that never fits the shopping carts.

Because we did everything we did before, my son didn't feel neglected, or that his new sister was a interfering with our special time. I was able to spend time doing all of the fun things we did before!

Hello there,
I just wanted to say, thank you so much for the beautiful wrap you made for me in a hurry so that I could attend a wedding in style and comfort back in August. I can't tell you how many compliments I get on it. Also, I can wear it all day, the baby loves it and so does my back. We have gone to see grandparents in California and Canada and the wrap is amazing for travel. The material is light, soft and breathable enough that I can keep it on on the plane without drowning in fabric and pop the babe in and out no problem. Also, to breast feed, I take the baby out and pull the material on the shoulder down. It's the perfect cover up and quiet space for baby. Baby is secure and comforted in busy places and we have taken it in all sorts of situations; hiking, the beach, restaurants, long city walks, you name it. I wanted to include some pics of happy mum and babe, so there is a pic in Cali at the beach and one just a couple days ago in Brooklyn. I've given out your website info to other moms and nannies so I hope to see more sugarsweetbaby wrap sightings in Brooklyn.

Our Travels

Phew.. We have been traveling since last Wednesday night. We went to Texas for my Brother's Wedding and now are in Myrtle Beach with my husband's family (yes we are crazy and drove from NY-TX-SC and then will be back in NY soon! with our 15 1/2 month old and almost 4 yr old) We made quite a few stops including New Orleans.. WOW what a Non-Kid friendly town..hahha..just kidding (sorta) We did not pack the double stroller, there was no room in our car, but of course I packed a Bamboo Wrap:-) Here is a picture of my daughter and I in the Big Easy.. I am using the Hip Hold with her (she is 15 1/2 months and 25 lbs).

I got an email from a friend last night that had a baby in March. She went on a playdate with another customer-turned friend in the area (She has 2 wraps from me).. Anyway this is what the email says:

I saw Julie today and she let me try one of your wraps. I have to admit I was a little intimidated at first. But, once I put the baby in it ---- GENIUS!! Andrew is well over 13 pounds and my back has been killing me lugging him around. I have the Baby Bjorn and he (and I) just don't love it. I know that alot of Mom's see wraps as "Too Much work" believe me I was one of them and now look what happened:-) I wear Callie everyday, started a business making them. My daughter Callie who is alittle over 11 months is over 20 lbs. And yes I HAVE NO BACK PAIN!!!! Yay!!!

Yesterday, we went to the park and met up with a customer that I am now friends with in my area. She has a 6 week old son and a 2 1/2 yr old boy. She picked out a new wrap and I had her model for me. Thank you Julie! Andre is the little one in the wrap, Julie says that she can not imagine not having one of my wraps for her son. (I wonder if she'll mind if I take more pictures of her in my wraps:-)

We are in the midst of taking new pictures of new Wraps that I have made! A few of the pictures have to be redone but I have gotten in a few new fabrics that I am very excited about! New fabrics include: Pink Polka Dots on Brown Bamboo, the picture doesn't do the wrap justice, so I need another one done. I also have a Blue with Metro Cicles, Hot Pink with Metro Circles (looks great on brown since the design in brown). There are a few more fabrics that I haven't mentioned, I just need to time to get them on the site. Please email me with questions, I would be more then happy to email you the new pictures! Baby Wearing in the Winter, You can do it!

I've been asked from many people lately, "How do you Baby Wear in the Winter". There are many ways to do this. One for example, when I go grocery shopping, I wrap my Sugar Sweet Baby Bamboo Baby Wrap before I leave the house and put my coat on over it. I get my toddler, Logan out of the car first, hold his hand, then take Callie out of the carseat, go into the store. I take my coat off take Callie's coat off, get her in the wrap, and then put Logan in the cart. MUCH easier then any other option in my opinion! And now if you are a neighbor on my street, you know that I constantly wear Callie regardless of the weather. A few weeks ago I took a walk with another family in a snow storm, it wasn't the best idea, but we all had cabin fever! Anyway, since my stroller is inmy mud room and there was about 18 inches of snow, there was no way I would get that stroller out! I wrapped Callie in my Wrap and put my snowboarding jacket over her and I, and of course her hat, pants, baby legwarmers and boots. I pulled Logan along in one of those pull-sleds. I should have asked my neighbor to take a picture of us!

Baby legwarmers in my house are a necessity. I put them on Callie each day, over or under her pants depending on what kind of pants she is wearing. I found that when she wears tight leggings and boots, I put them on over her boots and they stay on better. And plus they just look cute!

I will be featuring different items that I am trying out, items that are non-reorderable, as well as not quite perfect items. Sometimes mistakes do happen! Right now I have a new stretchy wrap in Black in. This wrap is at a great price and perfect for a beginner. The stretchy wrap works best for babies from ages newborn to about 9 months or so. (Depending on the weight of your child).
